1964, known then as Ackton Hall. He was Chairman from 1964 to
2004, standing down and becoming a committee member. He was
elected as President in 2006 and retained that position until
2010. His willingness to work of the club was invaluable and in
2010 he became Chairman again and still holds that position
today.
From 1967 to 1985 he
managed the Saturday team, 1972 to 1985 he was also manager of the
Sunday side. When the team was short of players Jim turned out and
played 8 games for the club. He was also the transport manager in
the early days when he was one of the few that had cars. The team
has played in the Pontefract League, Bentley League, Wakefield
League and the West Yorkshire League. The Sunday team have played
in the Castleford Sunday League and the Wakefield League.
In 1992 Featherstone
started a junior section, Jim being Chairman of that section from
1992 to 2000, the team played in the Charles Rice League. He has
seen many of those players progress to open age football not just
with Featherstone but with many local clubs.
Jim worked tirelessly for
the District before becoming a Council member in 1994 and still
holds that position today. Jim received a medal, lapel badge and a
